Thanks to the donated time and effort from the parents and leaders of the 1st Alfredton Cub Scouts, in conjunction with BGT employment training youth services, Metskills program. We have a trailer in progress.

BGT employment training youth services
The  Metskills program provides real life projects for participants seeking employment in an apprenticeship within local industry. Throughout the 6 week course they apply themselves and learn basic skills in production welding, fitting and turning, panel beating and steel fabrication. This course is completed within the Industry Skills Centre with industry trained and experienced coordinators providing the training.

The opportunity to manufacture 1st Alfredton Scouts trailer has enhanced experiences in working on real life projects.

Cub Scouts Going Up PDF Print E-mail

goingup1_27-04-10The night before the ceremony scouts made the bridge with skill and conviction. On the night, the lights were out but the wolf light was glowing. Akela wished his cubs every success in their Scouting future. While the pack looked on, three recipients of the Grey Wolf crossed over into new adventures, while scout leader John lit the way. Liz welcomed Ben, Liam and Dane into her troop as they re-affirmed their scout promise, on their honour to Scorcher.

Another highlight of the evening was the investiture of Alana (Chil) as Assistant Cub Leader.

anzac1_25-04-10

In the true spirit of scouting, ANZAC day was heralded in with a campover and backwoods cooking.  ANZAC eve involved a supper of soup cooked inside a hollowed out pumpkin on hot campfire coals.

anzac2_25-04-10

ANZAC morning the weather was dreary, drizzly and overcast but we enjoyed catching up with other scouts and having a yarn. We marched in the ANZAC spirit with pride and recognition for the fallen.

A very memorable day had by all, makes us proud to be a part of the scouting movement.
